What does the "x" next to some of our swimmers' names
at meets mean?
Per league rules, a maximum of three (3) individuals and two (2) relay teams
per team are only allowed to score in each event. An x next to the time
indicates the race did not earn points for the meet due to these rules.
These are still important swims because the coaches will look at these times to
help them find a good place for these swimmers in future lineups. We
firmly believe that anytime an athlete swims a race, whether they score or not,
it is a great opportunity to learn and develop more as a swimmer.
What does a
"DQ" mean?
The swimmer was disqualified for doing something incorrect in their stroke,
start or turn. Parents and coaches should encourage the swimmer to
look at a DQ as a learning experience and not as a failure.
