End of Season Slideshow and Changes for 2026! Please read!

LionsGate Swimmers and Families,

The Swim Team Board would like to thank you for such a fantastic swim season filled with learning, growth, friendship and fun! We truly had the best summer!

Erika and I would also like to say thank you for your generosity with our end of the season gift! We will be sure to use our spa gift cards before we get in front of students again this upcoming school year!

Please take some time to watch our 2025 season slideshow linked below! As a reminder, all of our season pictures are on our website under "Team Info". You are free to download any pictures you would like.  We would like to thank our team photographer, Julie Hess!

As this season has come to a close, we wanted to send out some changes the Board is implementing for the 2026 season regarding older swimmers, in the 15-18 age group, as well as a new opportunity for Junior Coaching role.

1. 15–18 Age Group Policies

To help recruit and retain swimmers in the 15–18 age group, we are updating our registration fees and volunteer requirements. Strong participation from our older swimmers is essential for meet success, especially for relays.  Note: Registration fees will continue to be reviewed annually by the Board and may change in future years.

2026 Changes:

  • Registration Fees:
    • $60 per swimmer for those aged 15–18
    • $30 for “Iron Lions” — swimmers entering their 9th season (not necessarily consecutive)
    • Out-of-neighborhood swimmers will still be subject to the standard out-of-neighborhood fee
  • Volunteer Requirements:
    • Families only registering a 15–18 swimmer will have no volunteer requirement
    • Families with both a 15–18 swimmer and a younger swimmer will have their volunteer requirement reduced by one shift per 15–18 swimmer
      • Example: A family with a 12-year-old and a 15-year-old would have only 2 volunteer shifts required

2. Junior Coaches (Starting 2026 Season)

We would like to advertise a new Junior Coach opportunity for the 2026 season to both the team and neighborhood.

Junior Coaches will be rising or graduating high school seniors who are still eligible and committed to swimming for the team. In addition to swimming, they will assist in a leadership capacity—helping during practices, meets, and Champs—with the goal of preparing them for a future coaching role. Junior coaches would need to apply and be approved by the Board and coaches. This is an unpaid position but Junior coaches would not have any registration fees. While participation as a Junior Coach does not guarantee a paid coaching position the following year, it provides valuable experience with us.  If you know someone who might be interested in this role, please email us at [email protected]

Thank you for your continued support of the LionsGate Lions Swim Team!

We’re already looking forward to another amazing season in 2026!

— Anne Dummitt and Erika Showalter
